Surprising The ‘Forgotten Ones’ - Two Cents

Lagret under: Ukategorisert — postbreaks @ 17:48

Ive been enjoying some banter on the home front lately about the merits or otherwise of ANZ Banks new campaign, insisting it doesnt have a bunch of Barbaras in its institution, but promises to serve you differently to the others.

Thanks ANZ, you had my interest great talent and an injection of humour which carried through right up until the point you delivered your promise and what a let down that was. As a new customer, maybe you might get one handshake at the door I doubt it but dont think its going to continue after youve opened the account.

So heres my vent - it ticks me off when I regularly see discounts or incentives being offered to lure new customers (which of course is a marketing strategy which pays dividends), but as a consumer whos already signed up, these are constant reminders that you are now a member of the forgotten ones.

And I dont mean to pick on ANZ. This happens across the board insurance, banking, gym and video club memberships and the list goes on.

To a cynical consumer like me, a marketer is probably between a rock and a hard place. Those personalised letters that appear in the mail box attempting to up-sell me with benefits, are seen as just that and end up in the recycle bin.

With Valentines Day romance in the air, whats a marketer to do to get a tough nut like me to feel the love? Well Im happy to report that one marketer has found the way to my heart.

Last week I received a letter from a bank thanking me for my loyalty and acknowledging my value to them. The note informed me that theyd deposited 10,000 reward points into my customer loyalty account thats worth $50 in fuel or shopping vouchers. I didnt ask for it, didnt have to tick any boxes, or send any SMSs to get it. I felt flattered and deserving.

So whats the lesson? Something we regularly talk about here at BCM remember to surprise and delight. Although you need to focus on growing your customer base, dont forget your existing members. Remember that they have feelings too, and that loyalty can be subtly bought with a surprise that delights.

The 2010 Oscars: Winners & Roundup : Heyuguys Uk Movie Blog

Lagret under: Ukategorisert — postbreaks @ 02:34

So, this evening I headed to a rather exclusive Oscar party in central London courtesy of Grey Goose and watched the stars arrive on the red carpet followed by the ceremony itself on TV screens scattered around the venue. The evening opened with Neil Patrick Harris performing a stage show number followed by our hosts, Steve Martin and Alec Balwin doing some rather amusing gags. I have to say, the pair of them did a mighty fine job in my opinion. Far better than that of The BAFTA Awards where every joke went down like a lead balloon! The comedy highlight for me was Ben Stiller dressed as one of the Navi from Avatar which was just genius!

James Camerons Avatar won a few but the big news of the night was that the Kathryn Bigelow has become the first woman to win Best Director for her movie, The Hurt Locker which won an awesome six awards taking both the biggies which included Best Picture as well as Best Director. Bigelow was seemingly in great shock when her film was read out twice in rather rapid succession as the night climaxed into a Hurt Locker fest!! The other shock for me was niether The White Rabbit or A Prophet winning Best Film.

We here at HeyUGuys covered the event with as many different types of media as possible. If you want a recap of the night has it happened, head over to Jons blog post which has all the updates as they happened.

You can view the complete list of winners below. Please tell us who you think should have won or if youre overjoyed with all the results. Until next year..:

Susan Dey A No-Show When Partridges Reunite On ‘Today’ | Palm …

Lagret under: Ukategorisert — postbreaks @ 08:26

With Today reuniting some of TVs favorite families, viewers seem to want to play Whos Missing? this week.

Monday, it was Adam Rich and Susan Richardson not in the Eight is Enough reunion. On Tuesdays show, with the family in question The Partridge Family, the games target changed to Susan Dey.

The reunion included four of the five Partridge kids: David Cassidy (David), Danny Bonaduce (Danny), Brian Forster (Chris) and Suzanne Crough (Tracy).

But Dey, who arguably had the most success as an actor after the show among the kids, was nowhere to be seen. After her run as Grace on L.A. Law, Dey has apparently kept an extremely low profile, and Bonaduce does end up letting her have it in his own inimitable way during the segment.

Shirley Jones, the Partridge mom who had a tremendous career prior to the show in musical films was unable to make it due to her tour with symphony orchestras. Meanwhile, Dave Madden, who played agent Ruben Kincaid, doesnt travel, so he wasnt there either.

(Technically, neither was the first Chris, Jeremy Gelbwaks. Gelbwaks got out of the business of acting completely after the shows first season, replaced on the show by Forster. According to Wikipedia, Gelbwaks is currently a management consultant.)

According to Zap2It, one show not about to have a reunion is The Brady Bunch. A feud between that shows Marcia and Jan Maureen McCormick and Eve Plumb forced a quick cancellation of a planned reunion on a morning show, according to the article. (Were assuming, since the show tried to pull together families all week, that the show is Today.)

Wednesday, its 227. Who do you think wont show?
